Itinerary

Hello and welcome to the blog for the WMU Ireland trip! Here is the initerary for the trip. We will try to update the blog as often as possible. It is sometimes difficult to get the internet. Hope you enjoy following us!
Ireland 2013

International Perspectives on Aging

Feb. 28/Thurs—Departure Day
1:00pm Limo from WMU/Kzoo to Chicago O’Hare
Aer Lingus flight 7pm

Mar 1/Fri—Arrival Day (Dublin); Acorn Nursing Home (Cashel)
Arrive 9am—clear customs/pick up vans
10:30am Drive to Cashel --Grab and go lunch on the way
( 110 miles/2 hours)

2:00pm leave for Acorn Nursing home
2:30pm-4:30pm Acorn Nursing Home

6:30pm Group Dinner Bailey’s Cellar restaurant

Mar 2/Sat— (TENTATIVE) Touring Day/Visit to Blarney Castle Charles Fort, Kinsale walking tour, Haven
Bay (Kinsale); Evening in Cork

11:30-12:30 Tour Charles Fort
1:00pm-3pm Lunch in Kinsale with local elders
Guided walking tour with Dermot Ryan

Evening in Cork

Mar 3/Sun—the “Rock” (Cashel), Visit to Ardee Care Home, Northern Ireland; Talent Show)
Breakfast at b & b

4:00pm Depart for Oakfield 80 miles (1 hr. 50 min)

6pm Arrive Oakfield b&b/ Check in
Group Dinner at Oakfield
4th annual WMU/Oakfield Talent Show

Mar 4/Mon (University of Ulster Day)
Breakfast at Oakfield

9am Check out/Leave for University of Ulster-Jordanstown

Participate in OT classes from 10-4pm

(Optional) Evening out with UU students
Dinner on your own

Mickus, Marzano, Quinn host Faculty Dinner for UU staff

Mar 5/Tues (Clinical Placements)
Breakfast Buffet at hotel
All-day clinical placements at various hospitals, care homes

2-3:30 Lunch at Carrick a Rede rope bridge
3:30pm Depart for Giants Causeway

Mar 7/Thurs (Primary School/Visit with local elders/Sheep demonstration )
Breakfast at cottages

9:00 (Optional )Tour of Belleek Pottery
10:00am Kesh Primary School (OT present inservice) Grab and Go lunch in Kesh

1:30-5:00pm Visit to Community elders in Pettigo/ Killadeas Care Home
Sheep demonstration at Cullion

6:30pm Group dinner in Kesh/Pettigo area (e.g.Lough Erne Hotel) or Ballyshannon

Mar 8/Fri (Voices of Older People, Giants Causeway, Newcastle)
Breakfast at cottages
Early costal walk?
Check out of Creevy Cottages

9:30am Depart for Voices of Older People Donegal in Raphoe

10:30-1pm Voices of Older Persons –Visit and Lunch with Elders

2:00-3pm Stop in Fintona for Tea with Stan Hilliard (retiree)

4pm Check into Armagh International Youth Hostel

Mar 9/Sat (Free day in Dublin; Dinner Theater)
Check out
8:30am Leave for Newgrange

Free afternoon in Dublin/Lunch on your own

7-10pm Meet for Folklore, Fairies and Food dinner theater

Return to Chicago 3:30pm (Central Time )

Limo to WMU/Kzoo arriving ~ 8:30pm (EST)
